Gardaí in Donegal are urging the public to protect their vehicles from potential instances of theft.

As we reach the peak of Summer, more people are out and about enjoying some free time and (hopefully) fine weather – however this also can open the window for potential thieves.

The public are being urged to take some simple steps to help prevent theft from their cars:

  • If possible, park in a secure location
  • Always ensure that you have locked your car when leaving it
  • Do not leave anything worth stealing within sight and do not make the mistake of trying to hide your belongings within the car once you have parked up – you never know who is watching!
Gardaí say that if at all possible, it is best to leave all valuables at home, or bring them with you when you leave your car.
The public are also being urged to report any suspicious activity to Gardaí immediately.
