Councillor Tomás-Sean Devine from the 100% Redress Party has been appointed Chair of Donegal County Council’s Defective Concrete Blocks (DCB) Committee.

Councillor Devine takes up the role with immediate effect and has expressed his determination to drive improvements to the redress process for homeowners impacted by defective blocks.

Independent Councillor Declan Meehan was appointed as Leas Cathaoirleach.

Councillor Devine said he was honoured by the confidence shown in him by colleagues and pledged to work tirelessly to deliver better outcomes for impacted families.

“I am delighted to take over as Chair of the DCB Committee at this critical time,” Councillor Devine said. “With the 100% Redress Party in the Chair, I believe we will see meaningful improvements in process, transparency and communication. Homeowners deserve clarity, efficiency and compassion, and I am determined that this Committee will play a central role in making that happen.”

Deputy Charles Ward welcomed Councillor Devine’s appointment and underlined the Party’s commitment to delivering change: “This is an important step in our ongoing work to secure 100% redress in both principle and practice. Councillor Devine has demonstrated real leadership and empathy, and I am confident that under his Chairmanship we will see the process become more responsive to the genuine needs of families. It is time to restore trust and to deliver the solutions that people so urgently need.”

Councillor Devine also emphasised the need for stronger collaboration among all key bodies.  “The Minister and the Housing Agency must engage with Donegal County Council in a far more proactive and constructive way,” he added.

“There is no room for delay or ambiguity. People’s homes and lives are on the line, and every agency involved must step up to their responsibilities without hesitation.”

Councillor Devine said his priorities would include streamlining the process, improving communication with homeowners, and pressing for clear timelines and timely drawdowns of payments.
