u16 Division 1 County Championship Semi-Final

Naomh Mhuire 0-11   MacCumhaills 1-07

Naomh Mhuire qualified for the county final after an exciting battle with MacCumhaills on Friday evening last in Glenfin.

Naomh Mhuire started well and went 3 points ahead and also had a few wides. MacCumhaills gradually got into the game and tied the game with the next 3 scores.

Just on half-time Naomh Mhuire got another score to lead by 4 points to 3 in a very tight and physical but fair first half. Naomh Mhuire started the 2nd half strong and 3 great scores from Jack Boyle, James Ferry and Hugh Boyle saw them stretch their lead. Mac Cumhaills then scored another point to leave 3 points in the game.

Naomh Mhuire were then reduced to 14 men after a questionable sending off and MacCumhaills then scored a goal and a point to take the lead with 10 minutes left.

Naomh Mhuire then tied the game again with a point from Sean McCafferty but MacCumhaills then got another point to take the lead with another point with time running out.

Naomh Mhuire finished strong with a point from a free from Sean McCafferty from 45 meters and then the full-forward McCafferty got the winner with his left foot in injury time. MacCumhaills then attacked and had a chance to win the game but the luck was with Naomh Mhuire who held on for a one point victory.

Naomh Mhuire were strong defensively and had a good team performance from all with Conor Boyle particularly impressive.
