Sam Maguire arrives in Carndonagh the hometown of Leonard Harkin, who traveled from Melbourne Australia with his wife Peggy to witness this historic occasion: Sam is back in the hills of Donegal. A cherished memory for Leonard holding the Sam Maguire Cup with Donegal captain Michael Murphy & manager Jim Mc Guinness in the background. (The brains behind their success.) Pic Anne Diver

THERE was another huge crowd of enthusiastic fans in Carndonagh when the Sam Maguire came calling with the Donegal team.

It was a very special moment for Carn man Leonard Harkin (sure aren’t they all Harkins up there!)

He had travelled all the way from Melbourne in Australia with his wife Peggy to see Sam return to the hills.

Great pix from Anne Diver. Thanks Anne.

Peggy Harkin home from Melbourne Australia for Donegal's All-Ireland final waits patiently with her grandchildren Medbh, Aoife & Trea Harkin on the Sam Maguire Cup & the Donegal GAA team: All-Ireland champions, in the Diamond, Carndonagh. Pic Anne Diver

Sam arrives in Carndonagh in the safe hands of Carndonagh's now famous Dermot Simpson (Donegal team Physio) and Jim Mc Guinness (manager & mentor to the team) to a massive crowd in the Diamond Carndonagh.
