A court has heard how a man was forced to live in his car after becoming homeless.

The man appeared at Letterkenny District Court after breaking a red light.

Andrew Daly, 31, was stopped by Gardai on Pearse Road on October 11th last.

A subsequent breath test found he had not been under the influence of drink or drugs.

Solicitor Frank Dorrian told the court that Mr Daly’s case was a very sad one.

He had found himself homeless and was living in his car and even had bed clothing in the back.

On the evening he was stopped by Gardai, he was trying to find a suitable place to park up for the night.

The court was told that the man had now reunited with his wife and the address was given in court as Ashlawn in Letterkenny.

He was fined €100 for having no driving license but a charge of dangerous driving was struck out.
