Mr Gallagher passed away suddenly at his home in Mountcharles earlier this week.

He had spent 33 years working for Donegal County Council, dating from 1966 to 1999. In his years of service he spent time as Cathaoirleach of the county council as well as working on many different committees.

These included the Environment Committee, Housing Committee, Roads Committee, Library Committee, Arts Committee, Museum Steering Committee and the Co Donegal Old Age Pension Committee.

Removal tomorrow will take place from the family funeral home to the church of the Sacred Heart, Mountcharles for 11.00am Requiem Mass.

He will be laid to rest afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
