LETTERKENNY AC CLUB NOTES:
THE club would like to congratulate our rising star, Darren McBrearty who competed for the Irish Junior Team in the European Cross Country Championships in Albuferia, Portugal last Sunday.
“Darren started really strong in the beginning of the race, maybe too strong and he ended up in 70th position” said Irish coach Teresa McDaid.
From Darren’s point of view it was a great achievement for a man recognised as a rising star in the 800 metres. His father Sean and a group of members and supporters from the club travelled to Portugal to cheer him on.
This weekend the action switches to Tullamore for the National Novices’ on Sunday.
The annual 5k Turkey Trot, which was postponed on Sunday (December 5) as the course around the town was deemed to be in an unsafe condition due to ice and snow, has been re-scheduled for January 2 at 11.30am.
The Annual Goal Mile will take place on Tuesday, December 21 at the Danny McDaid Track. The club senior athletes are organising their Christmas night out after this event.
Tickets are available from club members for the Pantomime which takes place on Wednesday, Janaury 26. The tickets would make an ideal Christmas present.
The Christmas Party for the Juveniles will be held in Arena 7 this Thursday, December 16 at 6.30pm. There will be bowling and a party for the kids. The lotto jackpot in The Glencar Inn this weekend is €1,140.
