PORTSALON GOLF CLUB NOTES

Drive In

All roads will lead towards Portsalon Golf Club on Sunday 6th February for the traditional Captain’s drive in. The Captain’s Donal Callaghan, Marie Gilligan and President Willie Mc Cleary will officially tee off in this their first official function of the year.
A draw will take place on Saturday 5th for teams and tees, all names and handicaps must be entered by 6 p.m on Saturday to enable the team draw and tee allocation to take place. Tee off on Sunday will be a shot gun start at 10.30 sharp. The Captain Donal Callaghan extends the clubs invitation to the Captain and members of Ottway Golf Club to Portsalon for this Captain’s drive in.

Mulroy Links

An all too familiar scene on Friday night as the temperatures again dropped below freezing, the scheduled Mulroy Links event had to be cancelled due to frosty greens.

Results
The winner of the Wednesday open played on 26th January was Dessie Ferry (8) with 38 points, 2nd Joe Coyle (6) 37 points Gross Dara Mc Menemin (5) Letterkenny 32 points.
On Sunday the winner of the members competition was Shaun Kelly (10) 40 points, 2nd, Stephen Connolly (5) 39 points, Gross John Shields (4) 34 points 3rd Mick Gallagher (10) 38 points. The CSS was 37 points.
Events
On Saturday 5th February the first tee is reserved for the North West Alliance and on Sunday 6th February Captain’s drive in and on Wednesday 9th February an open 18 hole stableford event a time sheet is in operation contact 074 91 59459 for your tee time or go online at portsalongolfclub.com

Members Note
Due to the Captain’s drive in on Sunday 6th, which will be a shotgun start, the course will be reserved for this event.

Sympathy
The Captain Donal Callaghan and members of Portsalon Golf Club would like to extend their deepest sympathy to Michael Mc Carron on the death of his brother Phil RIP.

Winter placing
Members and visitors should note that there is 6 inch placing on all fairways.
