PORTSALON GOLF CLUB WEEKLY NOTES:

Portsalon Golf Club Notes: Drive In: There was a large turnout at Portsalon Golf Club on Sunday last for the first official engagement of the Captains Donal Callaghan, Marie Gilligan and  President Willie Mc Cleary in the traditional Captains drive in.

Following a night of heavy rain and following some debate as to whether the event should be cancelled the Captain announced much to the delight of the assembled swingers the competition was on.

As a result of the rain some did not appear which left the competition secretary to do a new draw for the assembled golfers.

The event got underway and the as the rain abated to leave conditions excellent for good golf. The event was a classic competition with two scores counting. The scoring was indeed reflected in the excellent conditions with many in the high eighties.

The winning team with 93 points was Aidan Cannon, John Mc Gettigan, Hugh Doherty and Fergal Mc Donnell. Runners up with 92 points was Chris Williams, Rose Ann Logue, Jackie Barrett and Martin Shields .The Captain Donal Callaghan welcomed the Captain of Ottway Denis Friel and Ottway member who came to participate in the drive in event, he wished the President Willie Mc Cleary, the Lady Captain Marie Gilligan success in their respected term of office.

Results

Due to the wet and windy conditions on Wednesday last the open competition was cancelled.

Mulroy Links

The next outing of the Mulroy Links will take place at Rosapenna  Golf Club on Saturday 12th February .  All Mulroy Links members please note that the time sheet remains as per the previous competitions. If you are unable to play please inform the clubhouse either at Portsalon or Rosapenna Golf Clubs.

On Sunday 13th February there is a members competition and on Wednesday 16th  February an open 18 hole stableford event a time sheet is in operation contact 074 91 59459 for your tee time or go online at portsalongolfclub.com

Members Note

The first tee is reserved on Saturday 12th from 9 a.m to 9.30 a.m and 11.30 am to 12.20 p.m.

Winter placing

Members and visitors should note that there is 6 inch placing on all fairways.
