DONEGAL’S HARD GRAFT PAYS OFF AGAINST TYRONE

Tyrone 0-6 Donegal 1-10

Donegal hit a rich vein of form to beat Tyrone comfortably at Healy Park and send the Red Hand spiralling into the relegation zone.

Mickey Harte’s men had promised to put on their scoring boots after recent laboured displays.

But it was Jim McGuinness’ side who put in the hard graft and kept with their gameplan.

Tyrone took an early lead through Martin Penrose, but two points each from Colm McFadden and Michael Murphy had Donegal level at 0-05 each by the halfway stage.

Penrose did have a goal disallowed but Donegal always looked dangerous with some find passages of play.

Substitute Dermot Molloy grabbed a Donegal goal three minutes into the second half and they tightened their grip, with Tyrone scoring just one second half point.

The result will be even more satisfying for the Donegal team considering they were without both Kevin Cassidy, Neil Gallagher and Rory Kavanagh.
