UPDATED: DONEGAL SEEK RE-COUNT AFTER BEING ROBBED IN ALL-IRELAND VOCATIONAL SCHOOLS FINAL

YOU MIGHT be forgiven that Donegal’s exciting election battle is the only thing making national news today – but the county was at the centre of controversy at the All-Ireland vocational schools Championsip final this afternoon.

The local lads beat Cork by 2-8 to 1-10 – a one point victory. That was the record taken by all the journalists at the game in Swords.

But the scoreboard – and the referee – gave Cork an extra point for a draw….2-8 to 1-11. So the game controversially went into extra time.

Tom Comack of Highland Radio revealed: “All the journalists met up at the end of full time and compared notes and they all gave it to Donegal as one point victory.

“There was a large contingent of Donegal fans at the game and they were very unhappy to say the least.”

The sides played extra time – and ended in a draw. They will now go to a replay.

* Termon u-18 ladies are the County Champions after a 3-12 to 0-13 win over Moville.
