ONE of Letterkenny’s most famous shops has become the latest victim of the recession.

Michael Gallagher’s Menswear has been open in the Cathedral Town for the past 25 years.

But the outlet has now announced it is having a closing down sale on Friday next, March 25th.

President of the Letterkenny Chamber, Pat McGinley, said he was very sad to hear the news.

Mr McGinley, who is a personal friend of owner Michael Gallagher, said it was a very sad day for the town and for the county.

“Business has dwindled and Michael eventually had to call it a day. It reflects the problems currently being experienced in the economy,” he said.

As well as Mr Gallagher, there are two full-time staff at the shop.
