Minors
Donegal minor footballers picked up their first point in Section B of the Ulster Minor League when they played out an entertaining draw on a score line of 1.11 to 1.11 with Tyrone in Healy Park Omagh on Saturday. Their next game is against Derry on Wednesday night in Celtic Park, throw in time 7.30 pm and they finish their group with a game against Antrim in Letterkenny on Saturday at 12.00 Noon.
The minor hurlers completed their programme and picked up their first points in Division Two of the Ulster Minor hurling league when they defeated Fermanagh in Enniskillen on Saturday on a score of 3.16 to 0.04. However Donegal failed to make the play off stages of the competition.
Club Officer Training Programme 2011
Ulster GAA has run its Club Officer Training Programme 2011 out across Ulster. This has been a hugely successful and popular training course with a very high feedback rating from participants. In addition to this some clubs have requested training for their NEW club officers and for those who did not attend last year’s role specific training. Ulster GAA will therefore host a Provincial Training Session for all NEW Club Officers on Saturday 9th April in the Loretto Convent Omagh from 10am to 1pm. This course is FREE and a complimentary lunch will be provided by Ulster GAA. Club Officers in NEW ROLES in 2011 are invited to attend or anyone who didn’t attend last year’s training. Registration is essential for this event – to register email Sharon Haughey sharon.haughey.ulster@gaa.ie for a registration form and return by Wednesday 6th April 2011.
Win a Live to Play Jersey
Ulster GAA is giving away FIVE Live to Play jerseys! Many GAA members will recognise the Live to Play ‘seat-belt’ Ulster jersey that is worn by all the players involved in this campaign. The jersey design strongly reinforces a Road Safety message through the design of the Black and Amber of the Province. For your chance to win this unique jersey, just follow the link below and submit your details. Closing date for entry is Saturday 30th April. If you aren’t one of the lucky one, the jersey can be bought at www.oneills.com with all profits on sales being returned to the programme to enable the good work to be continued!
The Irish News Club and Volunteer Awards.
Now in its ninth year, the highly popular scheme aims to recognise the hard work and commitment given by volunteers in GAA clubs while also rewarding the clubs and schools who strive to meet the needs and demands of their communities. For the second year running, there will be a special category for urban clubs as it’s in line with the GAA’s plans for Urban Development- a policy also adopted by the Ulster Council. The awards are backed by the GAA’s Ulster Council, in conjunction with O’Neills Sportswear, the Wellington Park Hotel and Cardiac Risk in the Young.
What your club can win: The winner in each category will be awarded a £1,000 cheque, £1,000 O’Neill’s Sportswear vouchers and a full page Club Profile in the sports section of The Irish News. There will also be a highly commended winner in each category who will be awarded a £500 cheque.
What your Volunteer can win:
The winning volunteer in each category will win a £100 Irish News Reader Holiday voucher plus £100 O’Neills Sportswear vouchers.
What your School can win:
The winning Primary and Second Level school will each receive a £1,000 cheque and £500 O’Neills Sportswear vouchers plus a full page School Profile in the sports section of the Irish News.
