INISHOWEN COMES UP SMELLING OF ROSES AFTER COMMUNITY SPRING-CLEAN

INISHOWEN is sparkling clean this morning thanks to the efforts of dozens of volunteers who took part in a Spring clean-up across the Peninsula yesterday.

From Malin Head to Newtown, people were up early and tackling the problems of litter across the region.

Many local councillors, including the Mayor of Buncrana Michael Grant, led the way by example.

Literally lorry-loads of waste was collected as sports-clubs, community groups and ordinary members of the public did their bit.

Donegal County Council kindly provided councillors with plastic nags, brightly-coloured bibs and other materials to distribute.

Our pictures show the result of yesterday’s clean-up by the Newtowncunningham Community Devlopment Initiative.

The mini rubbish mountain was proof of the great work which can and is being done by local groups across Donegal.

Other clean-ups are now being planned for throughout the spring and summer months.
