BREAKING NEWS & PICTURES: HUGE FOREST AND GORSE FIRE NEAR ARDARA

THIS is the scene of a massive gorse fire near Ardara, taken in the past few minutes by a donegaldaily reader.

A huge plume of smoke stretching hundreds of metres into the air is coming from a massive blaze which is sweeping through a forest.

Firefighters are at the scene in an attempt to contain the blaze.

However their attempts to quench the fire are being hampered by strong winds and high temperatures.
