PORTSALON GOLF CLUB NOTES

Results

The winner of the Wednesday open played on 4th May was Chuck Mc Taggart who over the past number of weeks has been playing some excellent golf. Chuck playing off a 12 handicap returned 35 points to win on the break of tie from , Runner up Eugene Gallagher (19) 35 points, Gross Stephen Connolly (5) 27 points, 3rd Bernard Nash (17) 33 points . The CSS was 34 points. On Sunday the winner of the members competition was 15 handicapper Gareth Mc Larnon with 39 points, runner up Bernard Nash (17) 37 points, gross Eamon Mc Conigley (7) 31 points 3rd Barry Keeney (11) 37 points. The CSS was 35 points.

Events

On Saturday 14th May there is a gents open 18 hole stableford competition. On Sunday 15th May there is a members competition and on Wednesday 18th May there is an open gents 18 hole stableford competition A time sheet is in operation for all competitions at Portsalon Golf Club, contact 074 91 59459 for your tee time or go online at portsalongolfclub.com

Ulster Fourball

On Sunday the Ulster competitions continue as Garret Horkin leads in team in the Ulster Fourball competitions. The visitors to Portsalon for this first round first leg match is Nuromore Golf Club Co Monaghan

Ladies Donegal Shield

The Captain Donal Callaghan wishes to congratulate the Portsalon Ladies team on winning the Donegal Ladies Shield which was staged at Portsalon Golf club on Saturday last.

Letterkenny Youth Club Fourball Better Ball

One of the big fourball better ball competitions will be sataged at Portsalon Golf Club on Friday 13th as Paddy Delap will stage the Letterkenny Youth Club Fourball Betterball open competition. For further details contact Paddy Delap or Portsalon Golf club. A time sheet is in operation for all competitions at Portsalon golf club.

Donegal Links Classic

A reminder that places on this years Donegal Links Classic are filling up rapidly. To avoid disappointment and to gain an entry into this magnificent golfing event contact Ballyliffen Golf Club on 074 9376119

Mixed Foursomes

The Portsalon mixed foursomes nine hole competition was held on Friday 6th May and the winners were Sarah Nicholl and D P Logue. There will be no mixed foursomes competition on Friday 13th May and the next event will be on Friday 20th May with a 5.45. p.m. tee off.

Match Play.

Entries are now been taken for the 2011 singles and doubles match play events. In order to have your name included in the dray for both events your entry fee must be paid at the time of entry.

Pierce Purell

The Portsalon team in this season’s Pierce Purcell travelled to Newtonstewart Golf Club on Sunday last. Under the leadership of Tony Morrison the team were sixth overall and missed qualification by a slender margin. The team captain would like to express his thanks to the team who played on the day.

Tee Reserved

Members should note that the first tee will be reserved on Sunday from 1.30 to 3 p.m and from 3.30 to 4.30.

Placing

Our green keeper John Shields would like to inform all members and visitors that placing on fairways has ended.
