Club Notes – Naomh Adhamhnáin – 09.05.11

The Seniors and Reserves had mixed fortunes once again over the weekend, the Seniors going down to ardara by 3 points and the Reserves once again returning home with full points. With Donegal in action at the weekend, they will have a free week this week before taking on Dungloe in the Championship the following week.

The Juniors travelled to Glenfin and came away empty handed in their second league game going down by two points. They also have no game this week before taking on the Sheephaven Bay men the following week in the Championship.

The Senior Ladies recorded a good home win over Four Masters in the League on Sunday winning by 2-07 to 2-05.

The Annual Golf Classic will be held in Barnhill on Saturday, May 28th this year and is once again being co-ordinated by James Friel (086-8255474)  with the help of Paul Carr. Please contact them for details.

Tickets are now on sale for our Major Fundraising Draw for 2011. Our €20 ticket draw has 10 great prizes with the Top Prize a massive €10,000. Brian Kelly is the Draw co-ordinator so please contact him at the Washing Well or on 086-4188389 if you want to help. Tickets will shortly be distributed throughout the club and we would appreciate every member rowing in behind Brian and his team to make this draw a success.

Congratulations to Ciaran Maguire’s U-14 team that retained the Co. Feile title with a good win over Naomh Conaill in Convoy on Saturday. They will now represent Donegal at the All-Ireland Feile in Cork in July. They will take on Aodh Rua, Ballyshannon this Saturday for the Benny Carr Memorial Cup at St. Eunan’s College with a 3pm throw-in.

The U-12 Go Games teams were both in action on Monday night. Brian McGeehin’s U-12’s had a good win over Fanad in the Park while Pauric Ryan’s U-11’s had a great away win in Convoy in a very exciting game, emerging victorious by 5-13 to 4-08. The U-12’s travel to St. Michael’s next Monday with the U-11’s taking on MacCumhaills in the Park on the same night.

The U-10 boys had a good win at home against Glenswilly in the Go Games, they travel to Fanad on the 21st in their next game.

Well done to our U-16 hurlers who represented Donegal in the Ulster A blitz this Saturday.  Francis Lennon, Daniel O’Connor, Oisin Redican, Jack Brennan and David Ireland were part of the team which beat Derry and Fermanagh and lost to Antrim and Down.  Kevin Meehan and Francis Lennon played for the county in the recent Ulster A U-17 hurling tournament, beating Monaghan and Fermanagh and just missing out on the final with a narrow loss to Antrim.  Particular congratulations to Kevin on captaining Donegal in this competition.

Due to Leaving Cert commitments our minor hurling championship final against Burt will now take place after the exam period.

The U-14 Hurlers had a good win in the Park last Thursday over Letterkenny Gaels. They play away to Burt this Thursday. Details at training. The U-12 Camogie team travelled to a Blitz in Carndonagh on Sunday. Performing well against MacCumhaills, Carndonagh and Burt. Our U-8 Hurlers travelled to a blitz hosted by Aodh Ruadh on Sunday 8th May, Setanta and Dungloe also attended. St Eunan’s fielded two very competitive teams and played five games each. Thanks to the hosts for a well organised and enjoyable day.

U-12 & U-14 Hurling training is on Tuesday at 5:30pm. U-16 & Minor training is on each Monday at 5:30pm. There will be further U-10 Hurling blitzes on 22nd May, 26th June & 24th July. The Friday Hurling / Camogie Academy at 6:30. The next U-8 hurling blitz will be held on 12th June and 10th July.
