An album recorded in a tiny Donegal recording studio has helped Irish band Villagers to scoop one of the music business’ most prestigious award.
The band were awarded the Ivor Novello award at a star-studded ceremony in London last night.
The band, which features Termon musician Tommy McLaughlin, are now being tipped as the next big thing following the huge success of their debut album Becoming A Jackal.
The album was recorded in Tommy’s ho9me studio and beat off stiff competition from the likes of Foals and Everything Everything.
The band follow in the footsteps of U2 and Snow Patrol but this is the first time and Irish band have won the award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically.
The band most recently narrowly missed out on other top awards including the Choice Music Prize and Britain’s Mercury Award.
