TV weather forecasters have now confirmed that Donegal will be basking in glorious sunshine by mid-week – with a glorious sunny bank holiday weekend ahead!

Temperatures could reach a stunning 24C by Friday – and it could be as warm here as it will be in southern Spain.

The confirmation came two days after the Irish Weather Online service predicted the heatwave.

It will be a massive boost for local businesses on a traditionally busy bank holiday weekend.

Beaches from Bundoran to Buncrana will be packed.

UTV, BBC, RTE and Sky all differ on when the heatwave will hit – Wednesday or Thursday.

The national broadcaster says: “Daytime temperatures on Tuesday and Wednesday will be in the low to mid teens. Current indications suggest that Thursday, Friday and next weekend will be dry with good sunshine.

“It will become much warmer also with temperatures reaching the low 20s in many areas.”
