Excitement is building in Glencolmcille in anticipation of the Big Day Out this Thursday when RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta take over the area to film a new TV promo featuring RnaG presenters, together with the local community.

Last month Gleann Cholm Cille was announced as winner of the national competition run by Raidió na Gaeltachta, and open to all Gaeltacht areas, to find a location in which to record the promo.

The day itself promises to be great fun, with the local community expected to turn out in their droves to take part in the recording, and to enjoy live music and a barbeque as part of the day’s events.

The Raidió na Gaeltachta Ródaí, their mobile studio, will decamp to the area for the day and Barrscéalta will be presented live from there by Michelle Nic Grianna at 11 am, and that will be followed after lunch by another live broadcast of music programme Binneas Béil at 2 pm, presented by Dónall Mac Ruairí.

The TV promo will feature RnaG presenters Rónán Mac Aodha Bhuí, Seán Bán Breathnach, Eibhlín Ní Chonghaile and Cian Ó Cíobháin, not forgetting the local community including members of Naomh Columba GAA, young Irish dancers from local dancing schools Bonner Cannon and Cunningham McNelis, as well as some well-known characters from the area.

A warm welcome is extended by Raidió na Gaeltachta to the community of southwest Donegal to come along to Gleann Cholm Cille on Thursday 30 June either to watch proceedings or to get involved, and to enjoy the atmosphere of this big day out for the community.

Lá Mór Spraoi RnaG i nGleann Cholm Cille

Beidh fógra nua teilfíse RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta á thaifeadadh i nGleann Cholm Cille Déardaoin 30 Meitheamh.  Tá lá mór spraoi geallta, agus tá súil go dtiocfaidh pobal an cheantair amach ina sluaite le bheith páirteach in imeachtaí an lae.  Fógraíodh ar an mhí seo caite gurb é Gleann Cholm Cille buaiteoir an comórtais a reáchtáil an stáisiún le ceantar Gaeltachta a roghnú don taifeadadh.

Beidh barbaiciú agus ceol beo ann ó mheánlae nó mar sin, agus beidh Raidió na Gaeltachta ag craoladh beo ón Ródaí don lá mór.  Is í Michelle Nic Grianna a chuirfidh Barrscéalta i láthair beo ón Ghleann  ag 11 am, agus ansin ag 2 pm is é Dónall Mac Ruairí a bheidh ar na maidí don chlár ceoil Binneas Béil.

Is iad láithreoirí RnaG Rónán Mac Aodha Bhuí, Seán Bán Breathnach, Eibhlín Ní Chonghaile agus Cian Ó Cíobháin a bheidh le feiceáil san fhógra nua, chomh maith leis an phobal áitiúil.  Beidh baill de Chumann CLG Naomh Columba, agus damhsóirí Gaelacha ó scoileanna damhsa Bonner Cannon and Cunningham McNelis le feiceáil san fhógra chomh maith, i gcuideachta chuid de phearsa móra an cheantair.

Tá cuireadh tugtha ag Raidió na Gaeltachta do phobal iardheisceart Dhún na nGall a bheith leo i nGleann Cholm Cille Déardaoin 30 Meitheamh le sult a bhaint as an lá mór seo, cé acu ag breathnú ar an méid atá ag tarlú, nó istigh ina lár ag glacadh páirte ann.  Tá siad ag súil go mór le casadh leo.
