PEOPLE in Gaoth Dobhair haven’t been given the leadership and guidance they need in the sex abuse scandal, we have learned.
Community leaders are angry at the response by the statutory authorities.
The HSE re-issued counselling line numbers….SIX DAYS after Michael Ferry was found guilty of abusing four innocent boys.
And gardai have yet to issue a special hotline number which distressed local people can contact.
“It’s not good enough,” said one parent who believes a relative may have been a victim of Ferry.
“There had been calls for an external investigation and we need that right now; not next week or next month but now. People need to talk to counsellors and gardai and they don’t know where to go.
“The response is a disaster. People are suicidal and nothing is being done to help.”
Another parent – who believes her child may have been abused by Ferry and then committed suicide – told us: “This place is going to explode. The authorities need to act quickly.
“If they don’t there is going to be a murder picture.”
