Club Notes – Naomh Adhamhnáin – 25.07.11

The Senior continued their good league form with a victory over Cloughaneely on Saturday evening. The Reserves suffered only their second league defeat of the season against the Falcarragh men.

The Juniors Championship playoff with Downings didn’t go ahead after Downings failed to appear in Termon with the match official in place and the team ready to play. It’s a pity after all the effort that was made to get the club to field 3 teams the same evening that this game didn’t take place. They now move on to a first round match up with Glenfin.

The Senior hurlers also had a late cancellation of their Championship match v Burt due to a death in Burt.

Best of luck to Rory, Kevin and Donegal against Kildare on Saturday.

The U-16 Boys Div. 2 team took on neighbours Glenswilly in the Park on Monday night in their Shield semi-final

The U-14 Boys Div. 1 team cruised to the Northern Board League title with  a good win over Glenfin. They begin their Championship campaign this Wednesday (July 27th) in the Park against Burt at 7:30pm.

The U-14 Div. 2 team face Buncrana in their rescheduled Shield semi-final also at home on Wednesday.

The U-10 footballers season is beginning to wind down and they take on the Gaels this Saturday at 12 noon in the Park.

The U-9’s lost a close game against Robert Emmet’s last week and they travel to MacCumhaill’s this week.

The Sunday Morning U-10 Football Academy will now break for two weeks as it does each year at this time. It will return on Sunday, August 14th at 11am.

The U16 Hurlers had mixed fortunes last week, defeating Setanta at home on Monday but suffered a heavy defeat away to Aodh Ruadh last Thursday. The U16 Hurlers play away to Strabane this Thursday where they hope for a much improved performance.

The U12 Hurlers won a very close game last Thursday with Cormac Finn finishing to the net late on to defeat Aodh Rua. Daragh Doherty and Conor F Kelly were excellent throughout while goalkeeper Cian Harkin made crucial saves in the second Half to keep Aodh Rua at bay. The U12’s next game is against Carndonagh at home this Thursday.

The U14 Camogie team played a friendly against MacCumhaills on Friday. Despite a good performance were narrowly beaten.

The U10 Camogie blitz was held in O’Donnell Park last Friday with the girls defeating Burt and losing narrowly to Carndonagh despite a fine performance. The next camogie blitz will be on the 29th for the U12’s in Donegal Town. Camogie fixtures for August include 12th for U10’s in Burt, the 13th for the U14’s Ulster Blitz and the 19th for the U12’s in Ballybofey and finally the 26th for the U12’s in Burt.

The camogie referee course for adults & young whistlers has been postponed. If you wish to attend the course please contact Gavin Craig. Anyone wishing to purchase tickets for the Camogie finals please contact Gavin Craig.

U-16 & Minor training is on each Monday at 5:30pm. U-12 Hurling training is on Tuesday at 5:30pm. Game each Thursday until September.  Friday Hurling/Camogie Academy resumes this week.

There was a great turnout for last week’s Hurling & Camogie Training Week in the Park. Thanks to all the coaches for making it such a huge success.

The Friday evening Hurling & Camogie Academy is on this week (July 29th) but will then break for two weeks, returning on August 19th.

This week’s lotto numbers will be available in a club e-mail later in the week.
