THE club is preparing to send a team to compete in the National Half Marathon Championships in Waterford on September 3. Club captain, Gary Crossan and Ciaran O’Donnell are planning this race if anyone needs further information.
Congratulations to Maria McCambridge on finishing second place in the Women’s National Lottery Frank Duffy 10 mile race at the Phoenix Park at the weekend. Well done Maria.
The Grand Prix action this week switches to Brocagh for a four mile run tonight (Friday). Last Saturday the club athletes were again to the fore in the Ballyare 10k. Pauric McKinney won the race in a time of 33.25 followed in second spot by Johnny Patton (34.25). Marty Gormley finished fifth with a time of 37 minutes dead while Jude O’Donnell was a second behind him in seventh place. Well done to Sheila Regan, Seamus Morrisson, Lee Gildea and Gerard Mullen who also performed well.
Marty Gormley travelled to Moville for the 10k on Saturday and after the 10k in Ballyare the night before still ran a very impressive 37.50.
The lotto numbers last Saturday night were: 3, 7, 15 and 23. Match three winners were Paddy Gaffney, Sinead Davenport and Elaine Bradley. The jackpot this Saturday night is 790 euro.
