The remarkable courage shown by one of Donegal’s top education officers has inspired a fundraising campaign to help set up a Breast Cancer Unit at Letterkenny General Hospital.

Acting Donegal VEC Chief Executive Officer Mary Ann Kane was hit with the devastating news recently that she had breast cancer.

However her courage has now inspired the Donegal VEC Golf Society to hold a special charity golf day this weekend.

The charity evcent will be played at Letterkenny Golf Club and will be hosted by Cllr Dessie Larkin’s who is the captain of the VEC golf society.

Cllr Larkin’s year as Captain to date has been a very successful one and Saturday’s competition promises to be as competitive as ever.

He decided to take this opportunity to use his big day as a vehicle to help raise much needed funds for the Breast Cancer Unit in Letterkenny Hospital.

Cllr Larkin has been overwhelmed with the response that he has received to his requests for tee sponsorship for his Captain’s day and would like to take the opportunity to thank all of those who have replied for their generosity.

Anyone wishing to contribute to the funds can do so by sponsoring a tee for €20. This can be done by contacting Cllr Larkin at 0879825005 or Society P.R.O. Rory White at 0879187212.
