The HSE in partnership with the support Local Sports Partnership Network have developed a physical activity and sport website to capture the numerous events which take place across the country.
The www.getirelandactive.ie website which will be officially launched on the 5th of October in Dublin’s City Hall will provide the general public with an important resource to promote upcoming physical activity and sports events as well as resources to support people young and old getting involved in exercise programmes.
Dr Ailis Brosnan who coordinated the development of the site is encouraging all sports club, gyms, leisure centres, older adult groups, schools, sports camps, trainers to utilize the site to promote their own events through a simple log on system.
This will prompt the user to load their information through a tick box format to ensure suitability before finally going public on the World Wide Web.
The exercise resources available on the site include facts sheets and information on how much exercise we should be doing, starting slowly and building your exercise programme as well as information on children’s exercise programme.
