PORTSALON GOLF CLUB NEWS

Gaeltacht League

One of the most talked about competitions over the winter months tees off for Portsalon members as the 2011 Gaeltacht League gets under way on Saturday 15th at Portsalon. The first round visitors to Portsalon will be Nair Portnoo golf club. Club Captain Donal Callaghan has taken over the leadership for this seasons campaign.The first tee will be reserved for the match from 12 to 1.30 p.m.

Events

On Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th October there will be member’s turkey competitions . On Wednesday 19th October Portsalon will stage gents open stableford competition. The Wednesday open event will be played from the shorter green markers. Time sheets are in operation for all competitions contact 0749159459 or go online to portsalongolfclub.com.

Results

Due to the adverse weather conditions which are prevailing over the North West the numbers were reduced for the Wednesday open played 5th October . The winner was Donal Callaghan (14) 37 points Runner up John Goudie (21) 36 points. Results from Saturday saw Jackie Barrett winning with 37 points from Jahn birney with 36 points. On Sunday it was almost a wash out and again the numbers dwindled the winner was Michael Shields (F) with 39 points.

Drop Off

In order to carry out essential maintenance on the 2nd, 7th and 9th fairways from this week until further notice all golfers are asked to drop off the fairways 2,7 & 9. The fairways will be clearly identified. Please ensure that you drop off on either side of the fairway. The captain Donal Callaghan, council and green keeping staff would appreciate your assistance during this repair work.

New Members

Do you want to avail of a special offer to play golf at Portsalon golf club free? Portsalon golf club are running special offer of three months (October, November & December 2011) free golf for new members to join Portsalon Golf Club. Placing

As from Wednesday 28th September six inch placing on all fairways only was introduced at Portsalon Golf Club.

Members and visitors to Portsalon Golf Club should note that on line booking is now available for all competitions at Portsalon at the flick of a button go to portsalongolfclub.com

Divot Bags

Members and visitors please note that divot bags are now available on entry to the first tee box. Please ensure that you pick up a bag and assist with the course maintenance
