GAA: LACEY ADDED TO RULES SQUAD – GLENSWILLY GAME POSTPONED

Donegal GAA star Karl Lacey has been added to the Ireland squad for the International Rules series in Australia.

The announcement was made this morning, just days after widespread disappointment that he wouldn’t make the team.

The team flies to Australia on Saturday but manager Anthony Tohill could well be forced to make further late changes to his squad.

Captain Stephen Cluxton and Colm Begley may be forced to withdraw from the squad because of club commitments.

Kerry player Darran O’Sullivan has already been forced out of the series.

O’Sullivan’s club will be in action in the Kerry County Final on 30 October – two days after the First Test in Australia.

Cluxton and Begley will play for Parnell’s in the Dublin Senior quarter-finals on Saturday.

Begley has said that he will remain home in Ireland if Parnell’s win Saturday’s game which also could force Cluxton to miss the tour.

Michael Murphy and Kevin McKernan have been freed up to travel to Australia after the Ulster Council opted to delay two provincial quarter-finals by a fortnight.

Glenswilly and Burren were scheduled to be in action on 30 October but both games have been put back to November 13.
