DONEGAL JOCKEY MARTIN HARLEY CROWNED APPRENTICE CHAMPION

DONEGAL jockey Martin Harley was formally crowned UK Champion Apprentice jockey today.

He already knew yesterday he had taken the champion apprentice prize before heading to Doncaster today, beating Kieran O’Neill to the honours.

“I’ve had a fabulous year and it was great to be able to come here today with no pressure,” said Trentagh jockey Martin.

“It’s been a ding-dong battle all year with Kieran and it became a bit of a scrap towards the end and it was a relief to come out on top.”

Paul Hanagan was crowned Champion Jockey – but there’s no doubt Harley wants to follow in those footsteps.

Khalid Abdullah was crowned champion owner while Richard Hannon was again the leading trainer.

Below is a profile article on Martin Harley from earlier this year>
