A FACEBOOK campaign to have All Star Kevin Cassidy re-instated to the county team has started on Facebook.
So far around 100 people have Liked the page.
A number of fans have left comments on the Bring Back Kevin Cassidy Facebook page.
Sources close to Jim McGuinness and the management team however say that the defender will not be invited back to the panel. We understand that Cassidy gave a staunch defence of his right to make comments.
Meanwhile friends of the Gaoth Dobhair man told donegaldaily.com that he had ‘no regrets’ about cooperating with the book which led to his dismissal from the county team.
“He feels it has been blown out of all proportion and most people have not read the book in its entirety,” said a close friend.
“Kevin is obviously gutted because as we saw this year, he’s still got great ability and would have loved to have been in the 2012 panel.
“But he feels he did nothing wrong and was absolutely loyal to the team and the cause of Donegal.”
Management sources however felt the content of the book was “way outside” what was expected of a senior player.
