The Frankie Kennedy Winter School will be officially launched on the Rónán Beo@3 programme on RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta on Tuesday 29 November.

The launch will be braodcast live from the Grand Social in Dublin, with music from Altan and friends.

Rónán Beo @3, normally broadcast from Raidió na Gaeltachta’s studios in Gaoth Dobhair, will relocate to the capital for this event, and will feature some of the biggest names in traditional music performing live as a taster of the music people can expect to hear at the Frankie Kennedy Winter School.

Altan, Steve Cooney, Breandán Begley, Fidil and Maighréad and Tríona Ní Dhomhnaill are just some of the stellar musical acts you can expect to hear on the programme which will precede a concert later that night in the Grand Social from 8pm.

People are welcome to attend the live broadcast of Rónán Beo @3 in the Grand Social from 2.30 pm, which is free, and tickets for the concert that night can be purchased from www.entertainment.ie/grandsocial.

This year Gaoth Dobhair will play host to the 18th Frankie Kennedy Winter School from 27 Dec – 1 Jan. The school was set up by Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh in 1984 following Frankie Kennedy’s untimely death, with the aim of promoting traditional music, in particular the music and song of Donegal.

The launch of the Frankie Kennedy Winter School will be broadcast on Rónán Beo @3 on RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta Tuesday 29 November 3pm.
