THE DONEGAL Domestic Violence Services is to be given funding for new accommodation for victims, it was announced today.
The organisation has been given enough money for a three-bedroom home and four two-bedroom apartments.
Centre manager Fiona Doherty told the Shaun Doherty show on Highland radio that they had to turn away 60 adults and children last year due to lack of space.
“We are delighted to have been given official notice from the Department of the Environment for a purpose built centre with offices,” she said.
“It is going to make a huge difference because last year we turned away 33 adults and 27 children last year. Women will now have their own space and dignity,” she added.
