THE sister of soccer star Gary Speed has paid tribute to him.

Speed, 42, a close friend of Ireland keeper and Donegal man Shay Given, took his own life at the weekend.

The Lifford man is said to be still in shock over the death.

Mr Speed’s sister Lesley Haylock described the Wales manager, found hanged in the garage of his home on Sunday, as her “inspiration”.

She wrote on Twitter: “I have lost my brother, my friend, my inspiration.

“I hope you are at peace now Gary. I miss you so much.”

Lesley added in another post: “Still trying to come to terms with it all.”

Last night Leeds United fans paid tribute to the star before their game with Notts Forest.
