UPDATED: A man attacked in Letterkenny yesterday afternoon has been placed in the intensive care unit at Letterkenny General Hospital.

The man, who is in his 30s, was set upon in the normally quiet Ard O’Donnell area of the Cathedral Town.

It is believed one man suffered serious injuries facial injuries after being attacked with a bottle or a glass by another man in a house around 4pm.

Gardai were called and one man has been detained after being arrested by Gardai.

Donegaldaily.com understands that both men are known to eachother.

A local resident told us he saw two ambulances and Gardai at the scene.

The resident told us “Everyone here is shocked. This is a very quiet part of the town and there are a lot of elderly people living here.

“It seems that there was some kind of assault and I believe that one of the men suffered fairly serious injuries.

“There were two ambulances here and a lot of Gardai. People are in shock and can’t believe that something like this has happened on their doorstep.”
