SECOND MAN ARRESTED AFTER HORRIFIC TAXI HI-JACKING

A second man has been arrested following an assault on a taxi driver on Sunday morning last.

The man was arrested at lunchtime yesterday and remains in custody.

Two men threatened and assaulted a taxi driver after they hailed down the taxi in Letterkenny and asked to be taken to Lifford.

The incident took place at Galdonagh, on the Letterkenny to Lifford road.

THe driver was assaulted, the car was stolen and later found burned out.

One man was arrested at around 130pm on Sunday afternoon and the burnt out taxi was found in Lifford an hour later.

The taxi-driver was treated for shocked, but was otherwise unharmed.

The first man arrested, aged in his 20s, has since been released.
