PRIDE of place this week must go to Sharon Bradley who won gold in the 1500 metres at the National Master Indoors in Nenagh at the weekend.

Sharon also won silver in the 800 metres. This was a super achievement as it was her first track race indoors since ‘94’.

We had a number of athletes in action on Sunday in the St Johnston-Carrigans 5k- the first of a three race series.

Humphry Murphy was the first club man home in 5th place (17.40). The other runners were: Marcus McClintock (7th, 17.50), Marty Gormley (10th, 17.55), Joe English (11th, 17.55), Annraoi Cheevers (26th, 19.37), Garvan McCloskey (31st, 19.56), Gabriel McCrossan and (43rd, 21.08),

This weekend the action switches to the Ulster Senior Cross Country Championship’s. Club captain, Aidan McKenna is hoping to have a strong team for the event.

There were four winners of match two prizes in the club lotto at the weeked. They were; Noel McGuigan, Eugene McLaughlin, Sean McIntyre and Eileen Sweeney. Next week’s jackpot in The Glencar Inn is €990.
