Gaia Kowalik, 38, who lives in Dunfanaghy, is making headlines again today.
The woman identified as ‘Magda’ in a mistranslated article last week has flown to the north African country to get away from the media frenzy.
But not before telling the Irish Mail on Sunday about how much she loves Donegal.
“Donegal is my home and this is the place I want to be forever, it is heaven,” she told the newspaper while walking on a local beach before her trip.
“This place makes me so happy. I go for a walk every morning at 6am on the beach to keep fit and keep my weight down. I surf too. I learned at 36 how to surf, so there is plenty of time for people who think it’s too late to learn.
“It is a great way to start the day, I bring my dog here and we walk for as long as I want to, some days I walk for three of four hours, other days I’ll finish up earlier depending on the weather.
“I’m so amazed at the amount of people who are interested in my story; my phone has not stopped ringing. I knew people would find me though, because everyone knows me here.”
