LYIT STUDENTS PRESENTED WITH SPORTS SCHOLARSHIPS

Sports Scholarships presented at Letterkenny I.T.

A total of 15 Sports Scholarships were awarded last week at Letterkenny Institute of Technology in what has become a growth programme in the institute.

All 15 winners and family and friends attended the lunch and presentation. Since the introduction of the programme, over 100 scholarships have been awarded to full-time students in the institute who seek to maintain a representative level of performance in their chosen sports.

Part of the requirements for selection is also the applicant’s dedication to sports participation within the institute. Paul Hannigan, President Lyit, complimented the winners who each received a cheque for €1,000.

The winners are: Patrick Brennan, Letterkenny (Athletics), Amanda Byrne, Kilcar ,( GAA) , Denise Donaghey, Burnfoot, (Karate), Mark Harkin, Letterkenny (Soccer), Josh Mailey, Letterkenny,, (Soccer), John Manley, , Wicklow,( Hurling) Diarmuid MacArtain, Dundalk, (GAA), Daniel McArdle, Castleblayney, (Basketball), Niamh McCarthy, castleblayney, (Soccer), Darren McGlinchey, Castlefinn, (Athletics), Barry McNamee, Ramelton, (Soccer), Patrick McNulty, Foxford, Co. Mayo, (GAA), Grace O’Mahoney, Skibereen, Co. Cork, (Basketball), Conor Roynane, Skerries, Co. Dublin, (Rugby).

The group are pictured with college members Patsy McGonagle, Paddy Gallagher and the President of the LYIT Paul Hannigan.
