Letterkenny Rovers FC Notes
The under-16 team secured a 2-0 victory over Cappry Rovers in their Donegal Schoolboys Champions League semi-final first leg tie at the Aura Leisure Centre. Dale Gorman scored both goals with a date for the second leg still to be confirmed.
The youth team’s hopes of adding the Colin Breslin Cup to their Donegal Youth League title were dashed at the weekend losing 2-1 away to Cappry Rovers in the semi-final of the competition. Dan O’Donnell had put Rovers ahead at half-time. The two sides meet again this Saturday – for the third consecutive weekend – in the semi-finals of the John ‘Gorey’ Curran Cup at Cappry Park.
The team have been drawn away to Cockhill Celtic in the semi-finals of the Ulster Cup on Saturday, 24th March.
Ryan McConnell returns to international duty next week. The defender has been called into the Republic of Ireland under-17 side for the UEFA Elite Phase Qualifiers which are hosted by the Netherlands.
The Letterkenny & District Schoolboys season resumed action at the weekend. The under-14’s had a victory over Ballyare Diamonds but the under-12’s and under-16 Crusaders side suffered defeats at the hands of Swilly Rovers and Illistrin respectively.
This weekend, the under-12’s host Bonagee Tigers, the under-14’s meet Glencar Hammers and the Crusaders have a home fixture with Bonagee Tigers.
The senior team kick-off their new season with a trip to Buncrana Hearts on 1st April in the first round of the Knockalla Cup.
There was no jackpot winner in the weekly lotto draw. Three matched three numbers and each win 25 euro – Patrick McClean, c/o Liam O’Donnell; Bridie Mulhern, Dr. McGinley Road, c/o Liam O’Donnell; and Denis Roper, Killygordan.
