GAA STAR MURPHY PLEADS WITH MCBREARTY NOT TO HEAD TO AUSTRALIA

Donegal GAA captain Michael Murphy has pleaded with fellow county star Paddy McBrearty not to head Down Under to play Aussie Rules football.

The 18 year old Kilcar star is being head-hunted by a number of clubs in Australia.

But Murphy says he is hoping that McBrearty, who is completing his Leaving Cert this year, chooses to stay in Donegal.

“All we can ask of him is that he turns up fit and turns up performing. Thankfully he’s doing that for us at the moment.

“I don’t know what stage it’s at, but Paddy’s a very mature kind of fella. He’ll make his own decision if the opportunity does arise,” he said.

And the Glenswilly man said McBrearty is set to make a big impact form this season on.

“He’s going to be a vital part of Donegal this year and for many years to come. He’s a special talent and we’d be hoping that he will stay.”
