GAA NOTES: SEAN MACCUMHAILLS

written by Stephen Maguire April 30, 2012

SEAMUS McCORMACK

The Twin Towns and Donegal GAA community is mourning the loss of former Sean Mac Cumhaills chairman Seamus McCormack. Flags fly at half mast over Mac Cumhaill Park for this true Gael known by all as one of lifes true gentlemen.

Seamus was one of the clubs longest serving members and gave many years devoted service to Mac Cumhaills. He served in nearly every role within the club. He particularly loved Scór and was honoured at this year’s club dinner dance for his dedication to it.

Deepest sympathies to the Mc Cormack family, extended family and friends.

RESULTS

UNDER 12 Camogie. Our girls played a blitz in Burt on Fri, fielding a very young team(a lot of U10s), they were very impressive. They beat Letterkenny Gaels and Burt before narrowly losing to a far more experienced Carn team.. Well done to Pauline, Geraldine and all the girls.

UNDER 14 Hurling. Congratulations to the U14s who have qualified for the Ulster Feile Final next Sat in Armagh.Th…ey played in Strabane on Sat, winning 3 and Drawing the last. They played teams from Tyrone and Down. In what was a brilliant team performance, 2 lads were outstanding. Well done to Paul Doherty and Michael Curran. Best to luck to Anthony and the lads next Sat. We will update any details as they come through to us.

SENIOR FOOTBALL. Our Seniors travelled to Cloughaneely on Sat. An excellent team performance resulted in a win for the lads. We played well in all area’s of the pitch, most notably Chris Patton pulled off a series of top class saves to deny Cloughaneely any chance of getting close.Final Score Cloughaneely 0-11 Mac Cumhaills 2-08 Team was

Chris Patton,Eoghan Wright,John Lynch, Andrew Mc Closkey, …Joe Dunnion, Gary Dunnion, Shane Duffy, Paddy Hannigan, Pat Mc Nulty, Stephen Mulligan, Gavin Gallagher, Benny Mc Loughlin, Barney Lafferty, Stephen O Reilly, Marty O Reilly. Subs, Michael Lynch, Mark Dorrian, Michael Duignam, Marty Gallagher, Garret Doherty.

Scorers were Marty O Reilly 1-03, Paddy Hannigan 0-02, Stephen O Reilly1-00, Stephen Mulligan0-02, Gavin Gallagher 0-01

RESERVE FOOTBALL. Our reserves unbeaten run came to an end in Cloughaneely on Sat. A poor turn out and a mx up over times didn’t help the Mac Cumhaills cause. A below par performance from our usually ever reliable 2nd team resulted in our first defeat of the year. Final Score Cloughaneely 2-13 Mac Cumhaills 4-05. Scorers were Paddy Kelly 1-01, Alan Patton 1-00, Marty Gallagher 1-00, Michael Lynch 1-01, Chris Gallen 0-02, Michael Patton 0-01.
