The Dublin-based star was in a panic because she wanted to appear on the show wearing her clerical garb!
But she didn’t have a priestly blouse for the occasion.
Sinead O’Connor became Mother Bernadette Mary at a ceremony staged by the breakaway Latin Tridentine church in Lourdes in 1999.
But Ray Doherty of the Moville Clothing Company, whose clients have included Ian Paisley, stepped in to save the day.
“I had a caller on the phone and she offered me €100 if I could guarantee delivery by Thursday lunchtime,” Ray told donegaldaily.com.
“I said there would be no problem and no extra charge. That it would be sorted.
“Then I asked for her name and she said it was S O’Connor. The penny then dropped with me – that it was Sinead and I asked her and she confirmed it.
“I was delighted to be able to help her out and she was so lovely and nice.”
Now the singer has vowed to pay Ray back for his speedy work.
“We swapped numbers because I told her I would love to go and see her in concert because she is such a brilliant singer,” said Ray.
“She promised me two tickets when she goes on tour again and I can’t wait to go.
