LETTERKENNY ATHLETIC CLUB NOTES

CONGRATULATIONS to Ruairi Finnegan who has qualified for the World Junior Track and Field Championships in Barcelona after securing the A standard at a British Milers Club meet in Watford on Saturday night.

The LAC man finished the 1,500 metres in a time of 3.46.27-just inside the 3.46.3 standard.

A fifth year student at St Eunan’s College Ruairi (17) is also eligible for the World Juniors in 2013.

We had a number of athletes in Buncrana on Saturday for the 10k. Ivan Toner (34.15) finished third overall. Others who competed included Michael Black ( 34.42-5th) Ciaran Toner (37.02-14th), Glen Duncan (38.4- 23rd), Ciaran O’Donnell (40.17-30th), Collie O’Donnell (40.41-32nd), Garvan McCloskey (41.11-35th) Gerard Mullen (42.02-44th), Marie Boyle (42.04-45th), Richard Raymond (42.43-49th), Paul Cosgrove (43.05-55th), Noel Lynch (44.04-62nd), Lester Dobson (46.47-76th) Naoise Enright (46.48-77th) and Margaret Shiels 47.23-86th).

Tonight the action switches to Lifford for the annual 5k while on Tuesday night Glenswilly host a 5k and the inaugural event is attracting a lot of interest.
