After eight weeks of darts action in O’Donnell’s bar, Donegal town we are down to the last four of the 2012 darts summer league. 34 players took part in the competition and after 7 weeks of league games the top two in each of the four groups qualified for last Fridays quarter finals with all four matches being close affairs.

In the first game of the night James Byrne (Carrick) defeated Niall Cunningham (Dunkineely) 5-4 with James winning the last leg in 16 darts in the next match Fergus McGuinness (Ballintra) beat Michael Gallagher (Mountcharles) 5-3 in a close match. Stephen Harron (Ballintra) continued his good run in the tournament with a 5-3 win against Irwin Muirhead (Killybegs) in a high scoring match Stephen got a 180 and in the final game Adrian Byrne (Carrick) beat Raymond Hegarty (Kilcar) 5-3 with Adrian hitting a 180 and a 118 checkout in another good game of darts. James, Stephen and Adrian remain unbeaten in the tournament while Fergus has just the one defeat in the group stages.

The semi-finals and final take place this Friday in O’Donnell’s with Adrian v Fergus up first followed by the second semi-final between Stephen and James both games first to seven and the final is first to nine.

Thanks to all the players who took part in the tournament and O’Donnell’s for hosting it and hopefully we will get a good crowd to watch the final night of action, first games starts at around 9.30pm everyone welcome!
