The Can’t Pay, Won’t Pay campaign has called on Donegal householders to ignore letters from the authorities urging them to pay the Household Tax.
Spokesperson Francis McCafferty said, “Householders should not be alarmed or worried by these letters. They are not a bill or an invoice and can be safely ignored. Under no circumstances should people contact the County Council or LGMA when they receive these letters. Anyone who is concerned should instead contact our campaign.
“Our county committee will meet this week to agree plans for a stepping up of the campaign involving a series of public meetings and protests across the county. We will be distributing a 4 page newsletter to every household in the county in response to the council’s letter.
“Over 50,000, nearly two thirds, have not registered for the Household Tax in Donegal. We urge them to maintain their stand and refuse to be bullied into paying this unfair tax.”
