Termon GAA Notes: Week Ending 23/07/12

Congratulations to Michael Boyle, Jim, Rory and the entire Donegal squad who completed back to back Ulster titles for the first time in Donegal’s history last Sunday. Anyone looking for tickets to the quarter final must have their order in with Martina Kelly by Tuesday the 31st of July at 6pm. Although the day of the game isn’t fixed it will take place over the August Bank holiday weekend. Tickets will probably be around €30 for adults and €5 for under 16s.

Minor Board

On Saturday last 29 of our U8 boys and girls travelled to St Nauls to play a series of games against the host club. Thanks to David Brady for arranging this as it was greatly enjoyed by one and all. Thanks to Cathal and all in St Nauls for the hospitality shown. This Saturday the U8s have the final Blitz of the season. Parents will be notified by text with details. Hope to see ALL the boys and girls for this the last Blitz of 2012.

U6 boys and girls and U10 boys coaching will return this Saturday morning at 10.30 at the Burn Road.

The U14 team made their exit from the Championship on Monday evening after going down by 1 point to Urris. Despite a few late scores from Caolan Brady, Enda Mc Cormack and James Mc Sharry we failed to get the final score required to get over the line. Indeed the final goal scored by James is undoubtedly one of the best goals seen at the Burn Road. While this young squad will now focus on the U15 championship we would like to acknowledge the great effort made by players and coaches alike. To Bernard Gallagher, Pauric Hilferty and Paul Doherty a huge thanks for all the time they have devoted since January in coaching this young team.

The 2012 Board Parish league for all U6s U8s u10s and U12s boys and girls will take place on Saturday August the 18th followed by the Annual barbeque. More details in the next few weeks.

Next Wednesday the 1st of August our minor boys travel to Letterkenny to take on Letterkenny Gaels at 7.30pm in the first round of the championship.

Ladies Board:

Commiserations to the Termon ladies Aoife, Olive and Roisin involved with Donegal/Kerry who were defeated in the New York final last Sunday.

This weekend is a busy one with both our ladies teams in championship action with the Junior Ladies taking on Buncrana in their second leg tie this Sunday at 12noon at the Burn Road. The senior ladies travel to Aodh Ruadh, Ballyshannon on Sunday at 12 for their opening championship game. Best of luck to both teams.

Mens Board:

Last Saturday our Seniors and Reserves hosted Muff. The reserves recorded another victory to maintain their recent good form in an excellent team performance while the Seniors lost by the minimum in a game where they never seemed to get going. Francie Friel and Kevin McGettigan best for Termon.

On Tuesday our u21s put in a strong performance with a very young side against Carndonagh but a late goal gave the men from Inishowen the win. Alan Dugera and Joe Gallagher were best for Termon.

Lotto

The draw took place last Friday night in McClaffertys Churchill. Sean McDaid and Conor Tinney matched 3 numbers to share €40 each. Hugh Cannon and Conor Black won €10 each in the open draw. The jackpot is now €800. The draw takes place in the Glenveagh Inn this Friday night. Martina Kelly and Sara Harkin are the coordinators.

Tommy Ryan Memorial Trophy

This years Tommy Ryan memorial trophy throws in next week with the following fixtures:

Termon vs Glenfin on Thursday the 2nd at 7.30pm at the Burn Road.

Falcarragh vs Glenswilly on Friday the 3rd at 7.30pm at the Burn Road.

All support would be appreciated for the longest running memorial tournament in Donegal.
