ANGER GROWS AS EIRCOM LEAVES CUSTOMERS WITHOUT PHONES

MISSING INACTION: EIRCOM

EIRCOM has been accused of “failing miserably” to repair and replace phone lines stolen by thieves in Co Donegal more than a week ago.

Last week the company vowed to have lines restored “by the weekend” in Glenvar after copper thieves struck again on the Fanad peninsula.

A number of angry residents told donegaldaily.com that landlines still haven’t been restored.

And – bizarrely – Eircom has even failed to return their calls (made from mobiles of course).

One local woman who now lives in the North told us: “I was talking to my mum today and she is still without landline phone, I live in Co. Fermanagh and the only way I can speak to her is via mobile and it’s very expensive.

“My brother lives only a mile away and he is in same boat. My dad has been told that they don’t know when the lines will be fixed, surely something can be done?”

Another resident told us: “It seems to be taking forever. I’ve called Eircom from my mobile but they don’t even return my calls.

“It is just so frustrating.”
