GAA NEWS: NAOMH MHUIRE CLUB NOTES

Naomh Mhuire GAA Club is hosting a BIG SPORTS AND FUN DAY this Sunday August 19th at the Banks. The day will act as a fundraiser as well as a great day for all children and Adults. A full day of activities with races, football, food stalls, arts and crafts, gourmet burgers, strong man and woman, long kick, golf, etc. With development due to start shortly on improved facilities including additional dressing rooms, etc all support is greatly appreciated and this should be a great family day for all ages.

The seniors and reserves are scheduled out in Championship with a home fixture in the second leg of the championship this Saturday evening. The Seniors are out at 7:30 and will be looking for a victory following their narrow defeat in the first leg. The Reserves won away from home and will be looking to move into the next round with a home victory with a 6pm throw in. All support appreciated.

u8 Coaching will take place on Wednesday from 6pm to 7pm and on Saturday from 10am to 11am. The under 12s training is Monday and Wednesday next week at 7. The under 15s will play in the Og Sport 7 a side competition in Ballintra this Saturday. The Under 10s played Cloughaneely in a challenge last Saturday. They go to Dunfanaghy this Saturday for a blitz. The Bord na nOg are running a bus to the all-ireland semi-final between Donegal and Cork next week. The cost is 10 euro per child and this is open to all our under-age players. Please contact Gary before Friday if you wish to go as places are filling up fast. Well done to the under 14 boys who won the 1st annual Corn Antoin o Dochartaigh in the banks last Friday evening. In a close competition with little between the teams, the lads beat St.Michaels in the semi-final and Gaoth Dobhair in the final. Thanks to Ardara, St.Michaels and Ardara for travelling. Peil na mBan – u13Girls v Gaoth Dobhair in the Banks on Wed. 15th Aug at 5.30. u16 Girls v Dungloe Tues 14th Aug in Banks at 6pm and Monday 20th v Cloich cheann fhaola in Fál Carrach at 6pm.The county u12 Dev. squads are into their fourth week and our girls are doing extremely well and getting very good coaching from co. ladies captain Aoife McDonald as well as club coaches in attendance at the sessions. Training for u16, minor and senior ladies is Tues and Thurs at 8pm in The Banks.

The date for the child protection course has not yet been finalised, but hoping to have it up and running by end of Aug. or early Sept. Names still being taken by children’s officer Dónal Ó’Séarcáigh 0863189331. This is a very important course for members of the club who are working with youth and adult teams ,also parents can benefit from doing this course as it give an insight into how the club is looking after the welfare of our members.

Lotto details for week 8th August. Jackpot 2400 euro. No jackpot winner and four match 3 winner: Hugh Óg Sharkey – Coilceim, Donald Friel – Anagaire, Martin McFadden – Rann na feirste agaus John Jude O’Dubhannaigh – Rann na feirste. Numbers drawn were 3-5-6-15.
