LYIT has added a range of new courses in growing sectors such as Cloud Computing and Animation.

And the even better news is that there’s still time to apply for available places. The ideal time to drop in and see all LYIT has to offer is at its Information Day at its campus’ in Letterkenny and Killybegs on 23 August from 10 am – 3 pm.

The LYIT continues to expand its curriculum with a view to offering programmes which prepare students for careers in rapidly expanding sectors.

This year the college added exciting other new courses including Culinary Arts, Dental Nursing, Fire Safety Engineering, Animation and Sports Coaching. During 2012, LYIT completely refreshed its curriculum to reflect the latest academic and industry trends.

There are four academic schools at LYIT – Business, Science, Engineering, and Tourism in Killybegs – which provide a broad range of entry level degree programmes, matched by growing opportunities in postgraduate Masters and PhDs. There are over 75 courses to choose from. The college also has a number of programmes for those wishing to return to college or change career direction.

LYIT is located on 2 campuses in Letterkenny and Killybegs, both are dynamic and vibrant with excellent facilities, including a floodlit outdoor playing field, a refurbished cookery demonstration classroom, state-of-the art science labs and the only Wind Energy Training Tower in Ireland. Killybegs offers highly respected courses in tourism, hospitality and culinary arts, with an ambitious European and US exchange programme.

Registrar Billy Bennett explains, “We’re focused on continuing to offer relevant courses to meet a changing market with a particular emphasis on emerging areas like Cloud Computing. Students who study at LYIT are choosing courses which will open up future career opportunities and equip them with skills for future success.”

For more information on courses and what is on offer, visit www.lyit.ie or even better drop in to see us next week at our Information Day on Thursday, 23 August, from 10 am – 3 pm. There’s still time to secure a place. Or contact Grainne on 074 9186129.
