The Donegal Fire service could scoop a major award after their heroics in tackling many gorse fires last summer.

The service has been shortlisted in the Outstanding Customer Service section of the Chambers Ireland Excellence in Local Government Awards.

Donegal County Council has been shortlisted in two other categories.

They could also win awards after being nominated in the One Donegal Cultural Diversity Month in the Festival of the Year category and the Donegal Gathering in the Supporting Tourism section.

The Awards will take place in November at Dublin’s Burlington Hotel.
