WATERFORD HITMAN DEMPSEY ENDS HARPS UNBEATEN RUN

A pair of stunning Gary Dempsey free-kicks brought Finn Harps ten game unbeaten run to a halt at Finn Park last night.

Both sides were evenly matched in the first half but harps were left on the back-foot when Waterford midfielder Dempsey struck in the 44th and 49th minutes.

Ever dependable goal-poacher Kevin McHugh gave Harps a chink of light when he scored in the 56th minute.

The home side threw everything at the visitors for the last half hour but Waterford did well to shut up shop to eventually win out 2-1 winners.

Harps can feel a little hard-done-by and perhaps should have got a share of the spoils from Waterford who are now four points behind leaders Limerick.
